Who We are

Founded in 1995 by educator Sally McClintock, LATTICE (Linking All Types of Teachers to International Cross-cultural Education) began as a partnership between mid-Michigan school districts, Michigan State University (MSU), international graduate students and scholars, and local community members. The organization was created to foster a global education network that connects classrooms with international perspectives, enriching both teachers and students by broadening their understanding of the world.

At its heart, LATTICE is about fostering relationships. We create opportunities for educators and students to connect with people from around the world, sharing stories and experiences that bridge cultural divides. By building these connections, we strengthen cross-cultural understanding and equip educators with the tools to bring a global perspective to their classrooms.

Our Vision and Mission

Our Vision

LATTICE envisions a dynamic and inclusive learning community where individuals from around the world come together to share ideas, build personal relationships, and explore global issues. Our goal is to foster understanding and appreciation across nationalities, cultures, religions, and identities, equipping members with the insights needed to promote diversity and inclusion in education.

Our Mission

LATTICE is committed to supporting global perspectives in K-12 classrooms by providing personal and professional development opportunities for educators. We connect local schools to international communities, offer classroom visits from international members, and facilitate meaningful exchanges that prepare today’s students to become active participants in tomorrow’s global society.

Four Core Values

At LATTICE, we believe in the power of diversity, respect, and lifelong learning. Our four core values guide every interaction.

Global Understanding

Fostering an appreciation for similarities and differences across cultures

Collaboration

Building bridges between educators, students, and international communities

Inclusivity

Welcoming all voices and perspectives in our shared learning space

Personal Growth

Encouraging continuous learning through shared experiences and dialogue

Our Partners and Supporters

LATTICE thrives through the support of 14 mid-Michigan school districts, the Ingham Intermediate School District, and several key academic and global-focused centers at Michigan State University (MSU). These partnerships provide essential resources and opportunities, helping LATTICE advance its mission of fostering global perspectives in education.
